A carefully executed renovation and expansion transformed the Duchamp Hotel into a refined luxury retreat, blending contemporary hospitality design with the intimate scale and character of downtown Healdsburg.

MKM provided structural engineering services for the extensive redevelopment of the boutique hotel property, which expanded the site into a 20-room hospitality destination while preserving its secluded courtyard atmosphere and connection to Foss Creek. The project included a new two-story lobby building, additional guest cottages designed to mirror the scale and architectural language of the existing structures, upper-level exterior decks, and upgraded site amenities surrounding the central pool and garden areas.

The structural design carefully coordinated new wood-framed construction, foundation systems, exterior deck framing, and site retaining elements to support the expanded hospitality program while maintaining the calm, residential character of the property. Working closely with the project team, the result delivers a seamless integration of architecture, landscape, and structural performance within one of Sonoma County’s most recognizable boutique hotel destinations.
