A composed hillside residence that pairs clean architectural expression with a carefully engineered structural system, balancing openness, durability, and site integration.

The Farm Ridge Residence is a new two-story, 3,076 square foot home with a 624 square foot detached garage, designed to respond to both topography and program. The structure utilizes wood I joists for the upper floor and metal roof framing, supported by a combination of spread footings at the upper level and slab on grade construction at the lower level and garage. Retaining walls at the rear of the residence and garage, along with additional site retaining walls and cast-in-place concrete stairs, manage grade transitions and establish a cohesive connection between structures and landscape.

Structural systems are carefully coordinated to support both performance and architectural intent. A waterproofed deck over the lower living area is framed with LVL joists and sloped to direct drainage, while front and rear bracing elements reinforce the roof structure and contribute to the home’s visual rhythm. Lateral resistance is achieved through plywood shear walls beneath lap siding, with a stone-clad base anchoring the front elevation, resulting in a durable, well-balanced system that integrates seamlessly with the site.
